04:02 PM EDT, 08/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Most major digital assets rose Thursday with bitcoin (BTC-USD) reaching close to the $60,000 level.
The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks 134 digital assets, gained 9% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq 100 was up 2.6%; the S&P 500 rose 2.1%; and the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1.7%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD), the most popular cryptocurrency, soared 8.8% to $59,751 with a 24-hour trading volume of about $41.58 billion, up 0.1%, according to CoinMarketCap data.
Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest digital asset, was 9.8% higher at $2,583.
BNB (BNB-USD), the third-largest digital asset by market value excluding stablecoins, advanced 7.00%, while Solana (SOL-USD), the fourth-largest, surged 8.6%.
XRP (XRP-USD) was up 24.9%, Toncoin (TON-USD) rose 13.7%, Dogecoin (DOGE-USD) added 6.9% and Cardano (ADA-USD) was up 7.00%.
The US 10-year Treasury yield closed at 3.999%, up from Wednesday's close of 3.966%, while the five-year yield closed at 3.833%, up from 3.793%.
The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry increased 8.1% in the past 24 hours to $2.09 trillion. Trading volume shrank about 0.3% to $94.57 billion.
