10:12 AM EST, 03/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- ASML Holding ( ASML ) is in talks with the Dutch government as part of a plan to dissuade the company from relocating or expanding abroad due to concerns over anti-immigration policies, according to multiple media reports Wednesday citing sources and the Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Micky Adriaansens.
Adriaansens reportedly confirmed a scheduled Wednesday meeting with ASML ( ASML ) Chief Peter Wennink in The Hague to Reuters and said it was part of "ongoing talks."
The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte will also reportedly join the meeting with Wennink, as part of the country's "Beethoven" project to convince ASML ( ASML ) to stay, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
The semiconductor equipment manufacturer has expressed potential interest in moving to France if its concerns are not addressed domestically, the newspaper reported, citing sources with knowledge of the details.
The company is reportedly worried about its supply of skilled workers, environmental regulations, and electricity supplies, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.
In response to a request for comment from MT Newswires, a spokesperson for Adriaansens said the government and the company exchange views on a regulars basis on subjects ranging from "suitable economic policies, innovation, business climate and economic security." The spokesperson declined to provide further information.
ASML ( ASML ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
