Berlin does not support Commerzbank takeover, says finmin official

BERLIN, Sept 23 (Reuters) - The German government

supports Commerzbank's strategy of independence and

does not support a takeover by Italy's UniCredit, a

finance ministry official said on Monday.

"We have communicated this to UniCredit," added the

official.
