BP Claws Back $2.3 Million from Dismissed CEO Bernard Looney; Posts Higher Emissions in 2023
Mar 8, 2024 6:35 AM

09:16 AM EST, 03/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- BP (BP) said Friday in it's annual report it has clawed back 1.8 million British pounds ($2.3 million) from the 2023 pay package of former CEO Bernard Looney, who resigned in September 2023.

Looney still received 1.175 million pounds in salary last year, before being formally dismissed in December, but his bonuses and share awards were canceled, BP said.

Meanwhile, the company said its carbon emissions reached 315 million metric tons in 2023, higher than 307 million tons in 2022. BP attributed the increase to new projects such as a project start-up in the US Gulf of Mexico, and "temporary operational changes."
