12:08 PM EDT, 09/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CMS Energy ( CMS ) subsidiary Consumers Energy ( CMS ) said Tuesday it agreed to sell its 13 hydroelectric dams along five Michigan rivers to Confluence Hydro, an affiliate of investment firm Hull Street Energy.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The transaction still needs approval from state and federal regulators and is expected to close in 12 to 18 months, the company said.
Under the agreement, Confluence Hydro will enter into a contract with Consumers Energy ( CMS ) to provide power from the facilities for 30 years, according to a statement.
Confluence Hydro plans to seek approval to renew the dams' federal operating licenses, which are set to expire starting in 2034, according to the statement.
