May 8 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers,
acquisitions and disposals were reported by 0930 GMT on Friday:
** Britain's Intertek ( IKTSF ) rejected a third sweetened 8.93
billion pound ($12.12 billion) takeover proposal from Swedish
private equity firm EQT AB, saying it was focusing on
a review which could see the company split in two.
** Mattel ( MAT ) investor Southeastern Asset Management has
called on CEO Ynon Kreiz to explore strategic options for the
toy maker to be taken private or bought out by rival Hasbro ( HAS )
amid weak demand.
** Commerzbank plans to cut 3,000 jobs to help it
reach more ambitious profit targets as part of a strategy to
fend off a takeover by Italy's UniCredit, the German
bank said on Friday.
** Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co ( TSM ) and Sony
Semiconductor Solutions plan to form a new joint
venture in Japan to develop and manufacture next-generation
image sensors.
