09:04 AM EDT, 03/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly ( LLY ) launched its blockbuster diabetes and weight-loss drug Mounjaro in India on Thursday, multiple media outlets reported.

The once-weekly injection, approved by India's drug regulator, is priced at 4,375 rupees ($50.67) for a 5 milligram vial and 3,500 rupees for a 2.5 milligram vial, the reports said.

Rival Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) plans to launch its weight-loss drug Wegovy in India, with a target of next year, although efforts are underway to speed up its entry, Reuters reported.

Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
