05:15 PM EDT, 09/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- ICL (ICL) said Wednesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials to supply phosphorus trichloride to Orbia for use in the production of LiPF6 - a critical raw material for lithium-ion batteries - at its planned St. Gabriel, Louisiana, manufacturing plant.

This partnership allows ICL and Orbia to advance electrification for both transportation and stationary applications and to bring the production of this critical component to North America, the company said.
