Market Chatter: Amazon to Shutter Wondery Podcast Studio
Aug 4, 2025 7:25 AM

10:11 AM EDT, 08/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon ( AMZN ) is shuttering its Wondery podcast studio, a move that would result in about 110 job cuts, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a person familiar with the plans.

Wondery Chief Executive Jen Sargent will also leave the company, according to the report.

Existing Wondery series will either be transferred to Amazon's ( AMZN ) Audible banner or to the company's new "creator services" team that will be the home of various podcast shows, the report said.

The Wondery+ team will report into Audible, while Wondery Chief Content Officer Marshall Lewy will join Audible in a new position, according to the report.

Wondery's advertising and sponsorships group will create a new team that will take care of similar deals in Amazon Music and the creator-led programs, the report said. Wondery's brand will continue to exist on some of those shows, while the Wondery+ app will still exist in the future, the person reportedly said.

An Amazon ( AMZN ) spokesperson refuted the report in an email to MT Newswires, saying the podcast studio is not winding down and that it will continue to produce creator-led podcasts.
