06:39 AM EDT, 08/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Saudi Public Investment Fund is in early talks with Boeing ( BA ) and Airbus to acquire freighters for a new cargo airline, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
Talks involve acquiring Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 freighters, although no final decisions have been made, and the plans could still change, the report said.
The proposed cargo operation would serve both flag-carrier Saudia and the new airline Riyadh Air.
Airbus told MT Newswires in an emailed statement discussions with existing and potential customers remain confidential.
The Public Investment Fund and Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
