Market Chatter: Zara Denies Infringing Estee Lauder's Jo Malone Trademark
May 8, 2026 3:05 AM

05:55 AM EDT, 05/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Zara has denied infringing Estee Lauder's ( EL ) Jo Malone trademark in an infringement case, Reuters reported Friday, citing a court filing.

Zara said its use of the brand's name on perfumes is part of an agreement with Estee Lauder ( EL ) forged in 2020, the report said.

Perfumier Malone and her Jo Loves brand launched a collaboration with Zara in 2019, the report said.

Estee Lauder ( EL ) contends that Zara violates its intellectual property by using the words "Jo Malone" in describing the Jo Loves perfume on its website and packaging.

Estee Lauder ( EL ) and Inditex, Zara's parent company, did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
