03:05 PM EDT, 09/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms' ( META ) Connect event seemed less impactful in the short term as the tech giant emphasized its long-term developments like holographic glasses, Oppenheimer said in a note emailed Thursday.

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's keynote speech highlighted four initiatives -- Quest mixed reality headset, artificial intelligence, Ray-Ban glasses and fully holographic glasses, according to the firm.

Oppenheimer said Meta expects its AI assistant to have nearly 500 million monthly active users by year-end, with smaller large language models optimized for mobile devices to be launched soon.

Oppenheimer added that Zuckerberg considers glasses to be the "perfect form factor" for advanced features like information recall and real-time assistance through AI.
