11:15 AM EDT, 03/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- NextEra Energy ( NEE/PU ) said Friday President Donald Trump has approved the development of up to 10 gigawatts of natural gas-powered generation in Texas and Pennsylvania.

The approval was made in connection with Japan's $550 billion investment commitment to the US as part of the US-Japan trade deal, the company said.

The projects, which would be owned jointly by Japan and the US, would be built and operated by NextEra Energy ( NEE/PU ), it added.
