12:44 PM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Pfizer's ( PFE ) Pfizer Canada subsidiary and BioNTech (BNTX) said Tuesday that Health Canada has authorized their KP.2-adapted Comirnaty Covid-19 vaccine for individuals 6 months and older.

The updated vaccine targets the Omicron KP.2 variant and will be available in pharmacies and vaccination centers across Canada in the fall, the companies said.

It will be administered as a single dose for individuals 5 years and older as well as for children 6 months to 4 years who have completed the primary dose series, according to a joint statement. For children 6 months to 4 years who have not completed the primary dose series, the vaccine will be administered as a three-dose series, the companies said.
