Rivian Automotive Reportedly Lays Off 140 Employees
Jun 26, 2025 10:34 AM

01:27 PM EDT, 06/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Rivian Automotive ( RIVN ) has eliminated about 140 jobs, TechCrunch reported Thursday, citing multiple former employees.

The job cuts mostly impacted the company's manufacturing team and have been ongoing since Wednesday, the sources reportedly said.

"We have made the difficult decision to reduce a small number of our salaried manufacturing employees as part of an ongoing effort to improve operational efficiency for R2," a Rivian spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email.

The spokesperson didn't specify the exact number of layoffs but said the cuts represent about 1% of the company's total workforce and that affected workers are "eligible for rehire."

Shares were up 0.8% in recent trading.
