Toyota's Brazil Workers Approve 'Temporary Suspension' of Contracts, Union Says
Sep 29, 2025 4:34 AM

07:05 AM EDT, 09/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Toyota Motor's ( TM ) Brazil workers have approved a "temporary suspension" of employment contracts negotiated by the union, the Metalworkers' Union of Sorocaba and Region said Sunday.

The motive is to "preserve jobs in times of crisis, as is the case now, keeping workers employed while the shutdown continues," the union said.

Toyota ( TM ) said last week that "heavy rain accompanied by intense winds" impacted operations at its manufacturing unit in Porto Feliz, and the company started discussions with unions to explore alternatives to retain the jobs of employees at its three production units in Brazil.

Toyota ( TM ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
