08:45 AM EST, 11/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Google's ( GOOG ) response in the third paragraph and the latest stock movement in the first and fifth paragraphs.)

Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares were down 4.3% in recent premarket activity Tuesday after The Information reported Monday that Meta Platforms ( META ) is contemplating using artificial intelligence chips designed by Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) unit.

The Facebook parent is considering using Google's ( GOOG ) tensor processing units in its data centers in 2027, and may also rent such chips from Google's ( GOOG ) cloud unit in 2026, The Information reported.

"Google Cloud is experiencing accelerating demand for both our custom TPUs and NVIDIA GPUs; we are committed to supporting both, as we have for years," a Google ( GOOG ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email Tuesday.

Meta did not respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Alphabet shares were up 4% in recent pre-bell activity, while Meta edged 1.3% higher.
