03:27 AM EDT, 09/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with Intel's ( INTC ) response in the fourth paragraph.)

Qualcomm ( QCOM ) is considering the acquisition of parts of Intel's ( INTC ) chip design business, Reuters reported Friday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

Qualcomm ( QCOM ) is especially interested in Intel's ( INTC ) PC design business though it is considering all the company's design units, the Reuters report said.

Qualcomm ( QCOM ) has not asked Intel ( INTC ) about any potential acquisition, Reuters reported.

"We're not going to comment on other companies," Intel ( INTC ) said in an email to MT Newswires. "As we have said publicly, Intel ( INTC ) is deeply committed to this business, including our market-leading position in the PC category."

Qualcomm ( QCOM ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
