US FAA Proposes Airworthiness Directive for Boeing 747-400F Planes
Apr 11, 2024 8:10 AM

10:56 AM EDT, 04/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The US Federal Aviation Administration has proposed an airworthiness directive for some Boeing ( BA ) 747-400F planes requiring the application of cap seals to certain fasteners inside fuel tanks, according to a notice filed with the Federal Register Thursday.

The lack of cap seals at the end of the fasteners could likely lead to an ignition source in the tanks during a lightning strike or high-powered short circuit, which could result in an explosion or fire, according to the notice.

Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.

Shares of the company fell 1.7% in recent trading.
