Demand for commercial vehicles has been looking up on a month-on-month basis, and growth is likely to pick further during the festive season, Kathuria said.

He said that segments within commercial vehicles were playing out differently, adding there was strong demand for light and commercial heavy vehicles.

Kathuria said intermediate commercial vehicles and tippers now contributed two-third of overall sales. He said pick-up in activity in the steel and cement sector was helping demand for commercial vehicles.

He said the eastern zone is showing good promise in terms of demand.

Revankar said he expected demand for heavy commercial vehicles to be postponed by at least six months.

Aggarwal said he expected numbers of vehicles sold in this half of the year to be the same as of last year.
