02:14 PM EST, 12/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index fell to 104.7 in December from a reading of 112.8 in November due to declines in both the present situation and expectations readings.
While the current assessment of labor market conditions improved, the outlook deteriorated.
The Chicago Federal Reserve's National Activity index rose to minus 0.12 in November from minus 0.50 in October. The three-month moving average fell to minus 0.31 from minus 0.27.
Durable goods new orders fell by 1.1% in November, while shipments declined by 0.1%. Excluding transportation, new orders were down 0.1%, and shipments rose by 0.4%.
New-home sales accelerated to a 664,000 annual rate in November from an upwardly revised 627,000 rate in October, up 8.7% from the level in November 2023.
