Oct 17, 2024 12:56 PM

02:57 PM EDT, 10/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Empire State index, the first manufacturing reading for October, fell to minus 11.9 from 11.5 in September, indicating a return to contraction in regional factory sector.

Redbook reported that US same-store retail sales were up 5.6% year-over-year in the week ended Oct. 12, slightly faster than a 5.4% gain in the prior week as fall sales began to pick up due to cooler weather.

The New York Fed's inflation expectations survey for September showed no change in inflation expectations for the one-year horizon, remaining at 3% for a fourth straight month, but upward adjustments for the three-year and five-year horizons.
