FM meets infrastructure sector stakeholders; highway construction on track, says NHAI chief
Sep 4, 2019 10:23 AM

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has held talks with various stakeholders from the infrastructure sector to address their concerns, CNBC-TV18 has learnt. The next set of stimulus measures, to be announced by the minister, could focus on addressing the problems of home-buyers.

Nagendra Nath Sinha, Chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and SK Chaudhary, CMD of Ircon International Limited, shared their views on issues in the infrastructure sector.

“We have done what we are supposed to do in the last three, four months. Our construction expenditure is more than that of last year. We are on track. About 600 km of project awarding has been done and in construction, we have achieved around 700 km this year,” said Sinha.

According to Chaudhary, the pace of execution is the main issue. "It was a very fruitful meeting. I hope the issue will be resolved soon,” he said.
