Government may set FY21 divestment target at Rs 1 lakh crore
Jan 22, 2020 12:44 PM

The government's divestment endeavours in this fiscal may have not shown the desired results, but the north block continued to be ambitious for the coming year.

CNBC-TV18 learnt the government may set a divestment target of more than Rs 1 lakh crore for the next fiscal even after falling much short of a similar target this fiscal.

A lot of the strategic divestment agenda may not be completed in the current fiscal. Therefore, disinvestment is the one key area that is going to be handled in FY21. Apart from this, couple of proposals like the government holding coming down below 51 percent in the CPSEs, a robust pipeline may be underway on that front as well.

In the banking space, at least for FY21 there is no recapitalisation sought for the public sector banks.
