Q: 30-year-old Akaash V Kulkarni writes us from Karnataka. I have started Rs 6,000 SIP on monthly basis in Canara Robeco Emerging Equities Direct Plan from December 27, 2018 onwards for 10 years. I am going to stop SIP in Tata Large and Mid Cap Fund Regular Plan - Growth very soon. Please advise if my portfolio is good or not and whether it's going to return good profits or not. My time span is 15 years and my goal is Rs 2 crore. What kind of portfolio or SIP is required if I want to retire by 45 or to reach the goal?

A: Assuming compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12 percent, one should invest Rs 42,000 per month to accumulate Rs 2 crore in 15 years. Assuming 12 percent CAGR, you can expect Rs. 13.44 lakh with your SIP of Rs 6,000 per month for 10 years in Canara Robeco Emerging Equities Direct Plan. To accumulate Rs 2 crore in 15 years, you should invest Rs 42,000 per month. I agree your decision to cancel your SIP in Tata Large and Mid Cap Fund and to start a fresh SIP in Canara Robeco Emerging Equities as it’s a better performing scheme in the same category. Add one multi cap fund like ICICI Prudential Multi Cap or ABSL Equity Fund in your portfolio.
