11:40 AM EDT, 05/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:
We cut our 12-month target by $20 to $110, valuing PRU shares at 7.5x our 2026 operating EPS estimate of $14.75 (cut today by $0.75) and at 8x our 2025 EPS view of $13.76 (lowered by $0.94), versus the shares' five-year average forward multiple of 8x and a peer average of 10x. PRU posted Q1 EPS of $3.29 versus $3.05 (as restated), versus our $3.78 EPS estimate and the $3.18 consensus view. Results refected a 62% plunge in operating revenues, largely due to a 57% drop in premiums on the impact of run-off businesses, coupled with reduced activity in some ongoing lines. This was partly offset by a 53% drop in benefit and annuity costs. We acknowledge the 16% profit increase in the core U.S. Businesses unit, though PGIM profits sank 8% and International Business profits were off 5.4%. Weighing PRU's discounted valuation versus these very mixed results, which will likely remain mixed as PRU continues to realign itself, as well as a more challenging macro environment, we think the shares lack a near-term catalyst.
