Research Alert: CFRA Maintains Hold Opinion On Ads Of Honda Motor Co. Ltd.
Mar 20, 2026 9:32 AM

12:00 PM EDT, 03/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- CFRA, an independent research provider, has provided MT Newswires with the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:

We maintain our recommendation at Hold, reflecting the severe but largely anticipated near-term earnings deterioration balanced against the company's underlying resilience and strategic clarity. We decrease our 12-month target price to USD25 from USD34, which implies a FY 27 (Mar.) P/E of 13.4x applied to a substantially lower earnings base. This significant reduction in target incorporates the full impact of Honda's ( HMC ) recently announced reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy. Consequently, we revise our FY 26 estimate to a loss per share of JPY108 from a prior profit of JPY342, and lower our FY 27 EPS estimate to JPY297 from JPY564. While these impairments and write-offs weigh heavily on near-term profitability, the majority represent non-cash items, and management has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stable shareholder returns supported by robust underlying cash flow generation, particularly from the motorcycle and financial services segments.
