The 30-share benchmark S&P BSE Sensex was up 311.98 points at 39,434.94, while the broader NSE Nifty50 was up 96.80 points 11,796.50. Broader market indices also rose with energy, metal, oil & gas leading among advancing sectors, while media, IT, pharma and capital goods traded under pressure. JSW Steel, BPCL, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank and Tata Steel were among major gainers on the indices, while losers were Yes Bank, Bharti Infratel, Asian Paints, IndusInd Bank and L&T.

BSE-listed SpiceJet rose nearly 4 percent after the airline announced the launch of eight non-stop international flights from Mumbai and Delhi. The flights will connect Mumbai to Riyadh and Dhaka and Delhi to Dhaka and Jeddah, with the lowest introductory promotional fare starting at Rs 9,276, the airline said in a press release. The flights to Dhaka and Jeddah will start operating from the first week of July, and the flight to Riyadh will commence on August 15.

Torrent Power up 10 percent after it received a favourable order from Gujarat Electricity Regulartory Commission (GERC). The order allows UNOSUGEN plant to charge Annual Fixed Cost (excluding water charges) as determined by the Hon'ble CERC or Rs. 228 crores per annum; whichever is lower. This will translate to a competitive AFC (Annual Fixed Charge) of Rs. 1.10 per unit at normative PLF of 85 percent for 278 MW. While the approved fixed charge will not enable the company to recover the Fixed Costs fully, it will enable the Torrent Power to service the requisite debt service obligation and recover some overheads.
