Ekta Batra's market update on March 7: Sensex, Nifty likely to open flat; Infosys, ICICI Bank, Vedanta in focus

Indian shares are set to open little changed, following sluggish Asian markets as investors practised caution about some kind of resolution to US-China trade negotiations.

At 07:10 AM, the SGX Nifty, an early indicator of the Nifty 50's trend in India, was down 0.03 percent at 11,093.50, indicating a muted start for the Sensex and the Nifty.

Stock Market Highlights: Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 succumbed to negative territory on Wednesday after a day's breather the previous day. Gains in financial and oil & gas shares were offset by losses in IT, pharmaceutical and automobile names. Broader markets ended on a mixed note, with the Nifty Smallcap 100 index rising 0.6 percent but its midcap counterpart declining 0.4 percent. Latent View Analytics shares rose a day after the data analytics company made a strong debut in the secondary market. Stock Market Highlights: Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 recovered initial losses to end stronger on Thursday. Gains in oil & gas, IT and pharmaceuticals shares pushed the headline indices higher, though losses in financial and automobile stocks limited the upside. Broader markets also strengthened with the midcap and smallcap gauges finishing 0.6 percent and 0.8 percent higher respectively. Volatility persisted ahead of the expiry of monthly derivatives contracts due by the end of the session. Latent View Analytics shares continued to surge after a bumper listing this week.
