Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Decline After Midday Trading

12:56 PM EDT, 03/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds, including IWM and IVV, were trading lower. Actively-traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) was down 0.3%.

US benchmark stock indexes fell, paring earlier losses, while government bond yields traded higher after midday on Monday.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) gained 0.2% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) edged up 0.3%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was down 0.3%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were lower.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) fell 0.5% while iShares PHLX Semiconductor (SOXX) declined 1.3%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) eased 0.1%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) was down 0.3% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was up 0.3%.

Commodities

Crude was up 0.4%; United States Oil Fund (USO) rose 0.7%. Natural gas was down 1.6% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) decreased 1.8%.

Gold was up 0.1% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) rose 0.2%. Silver was up 0.5% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) gained 0.7%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) gained 0.3%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were higher.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) fell 0.2%; retail funds VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were lower.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) slid 0.4% and other funds iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. Biotech ETF iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was up 0.2%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) fell 0.8% while other industrial funds iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ), and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were lower.
