US equity indexes slumped as a trade war began between the US and its biggest three trade partners -- Canada, China, and Mexico.
Energy
iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) lost about 0.8% each.
Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) was down 0.6%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) declined.
SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rose 0.5%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) added 0.9%.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) dropped past 3%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) fell 9.4%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) climbed 9.5%.
Commodities
Crude oil lost 0.4%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) fell 0.4%. Natural gas advanced 6.7%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) rose 6.6%.
Gold was up 0.8% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) gained 0.8%. Silver rose 0.2%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) added 0.6%.
Consumer
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) lost 0.7%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were lower.
Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) fell 1.8%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) was down 0.9%, while SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) declined 1.6%.
Health Care
Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) fell 0.6%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were lower. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was 0.3% down.
Industrial
Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was down 1.7%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were also lower.
