Market trades higher, Sensex rises more than 100 points; HDFC, IT stocks gain

The market is trading higher with the BSE Sensex gaining 200 points at 35,180 and the NSE Nifty gaining around 50 points and trading at 10,751. SBI, Yes Bank, HDFC and the tech stocks - HCL Tech, Wipro, TCS - are among the top gainers today.

The benchmark indices are gaining despite Axis Bank and Reliance Industries being in correction mode.

The market opened in the green with the BSE Sensex trading above 35,000 at 35,021 points and the NSE Nifty trading above 10,700 at 10,705 points.

The Indian stock market will be shut tomorrow on the occasion of May Day while in the Asian markets, China, Japan and Hong Kong are shut today.

HDFC, Kotak Mahindra and CEAT are yet to declare their quarterly results.
