01:31 PM EDT, 06/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks fell Tuesday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) both decreasing 0.6%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index eased 0.2%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index was shedding 0.7%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.6% to $78.24 a barrel, while global benchmark Brent crude advanced 0.7% to $82.21 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures jumped 4.8% to $3.04 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Obsidian Energy ( OBE ) shares gained 2.1% after the company reached an agreement in principle with the Woodland Cree First Nation, and production restarted from the Harmon Valley South field in the Peace River area.
