01:17 PM EST, 11/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.9% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) rising 0.8%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index was decreasing 0.4%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index was adding 0.3%.
Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 0.3% to $59.58 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract advanced 0.2% to $63.44 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures increased 0.1% to $4.36 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, NextEra Energy ( NEE ) shares rose 1.2% after Bloomberg reported that the company is in advanced talks to buy closely held Symmetry Energy Solutions for about $800 million.
