Sector Update: Energy Stocks Rise Tuesday Afternoon

02:07 PM EDT, 07/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Energy stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Energy Sector Index up 0.6% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.9%.

The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index climbed 3.6%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities index was up 0.1%.

Front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil was rising 0.7% to $65.58 a barrel, and the global benchmark Brent crude contract was advancing 0.6% to $67.11 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures were 2.2% lower at $3.38 per 1 million BTU.

In corporate news, Dominion Energy ( D ) shares rose 1.3% after its South Carolina unit's application to extend the operating license for VC Summer Nuclear Station for 20 more years received approval from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Evolution Petroleum ( EPM ) shares popped 3.2% after it said Tuesday that initial results of its joint interest audit of its Barnett Shale properties in Texas showed several areas where it appeared Evolution had been overcharged. Evolution said it and Diversified Energy ( DEC ) have discovered about $1.8 million owed to Evolution relating to the period between September 2021 and December 2023. Diversified shares were down 1.6%.

Innovex International ( INVX ) shares rose 2.2% after the company said it has completed the divestment of its Subsea Tree product line to Trendsetter Engineering via an all-cash deal.
