The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 2.5%.
In corporate news, Moderna ( MRNA ) shares rose 6.6%. The company said late Friday was awarded $590 million by the US Department of Health and Human Services to accelerate the development of mRNA-based pandemic influenza vaccines.
BrightSpring Health Services ( BTSG ) shares jumped 14%, a day after the company said it will sell its Community Living division, including ResCare Community Living, to Sevita for $835 million in cash.
Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) shares added 0.4%. The company said Tuesday that the US Food and Drug Administration approved nasal spray Spravato as the first-ever stand-alone therapy for major depressive disorder.
