The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 1.7%.
In corporate news, Denmark's largest pension fund ATP increased its holding in Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) to 4.81 million shares at the end of H1 from 2.52 million shares at the end of 2024, according to the fund's website. Novo shares eased 0.6%.
Amgen ( AMGN ) shares were shedding 0.6%. The company said it will invest over $600 million in a new science and innovation center at its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.
Zymeworks ( ZYME ) shares fell 5.6% after the firm said it will end the clinical development of ZW171, which was designed to target gynecological, thoracic and digestive system cancers.
Outlook Therapeutics ( OTLK ) shares rose past 4% after the firm said it has requested a Type A meeting with the US Food and Drug Administration to discuss its complete response letter for ONS-5010, a drug candidate for wet macular degeneration.
