01:35 PM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks gained Tuesday afternoon with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) rising 0.8% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 1.4%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index advanced 1.7%.

In corporate news, Smartsheet ( SMAR ) agreed to be acquired by Blackstone (BX) and Vista Equity Partners for $8.4 billion in cash. Smartsheet ( SMAR ) shares jumped 6.5% and Blackstone rose 0.2%.
