Sector Update: Tech Stocks Gain Late Afternoon

03:50 PM EST, 11/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks rose late Wednesday afternoon with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) climbing 1% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) surging 4.4%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped 4.1%.

In corporate news, Alibaba's ( BABA ) digital mapping unit Amap will partner with Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng to launch a global robotaxi service network, media outlets reported Wednesday. Alibaba ( BABA ) shares added 0.7%.

Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) reported Q3 results that beat Wall Street's estimates, driven by strong demand for processors and AI chips. The stock gained 3%.

Alphabet (GOOG) unit Google's ( GOOG ) planned $32 billion acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz cleared a key US regulatory hurdle, media outlets reported Tuesday, citing comments from Wiz Chief Executive Officer Assaf Rappaport. Alphabet shares climbed 2.4%.

Apple ( AAPL ) plans to use a 1.2 trillion parameter AI model developed by Alphabet's Google ( GOOG ) to help run its new Siri voice assistant, Bloomberg reported. Apple ( AAPL ) was down 0.3%.

Unity Software ( U ) shares surged past 18% after Q3 results topped analyst estimates and Q4 revenue guidance exceeded consensus.
