12:22 PM EST, 11/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Toronto Stock Exchange is up 100 points with most sectors higher.

The best performers are tech and energy stocks, up 2% and 1.7%, respectively.

Healthcare (-1.7%) and telecoms (-1.3%) are the worst performers.

The gains comes as Bloomberg reported U.S. President Trump is now readying tariff cuts, trade deals in an "affordability push". According to Bloomberg, he now plans "substantial" tariff cuts designed to address high food prices in the United States.

On the domestic front in economic data, Canada's manufacturing sales climbed 3.3% month-over-month in September to $72.1 billion, their highest level since February , Statistics Canada reported Friday. BMO Economics had expected a 2.8% increase, noting in a morning report that the gain would more than reverse August's decline, in line with the advance estimate. The bank also anticipated new orders would post growth in the 2% range.

Also, wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and oilseed and grain) rose a slightly better than expected 0.6% in September as gains in five subsectors outpaced declines in two others, according to an update Friday from Statistics Canada, which noted this was the sixth increase in wholesale sales in nine months. Sales in September were 4.0% higher compared with the same month one year earlier, StatsCan added.

BMO Economics in its morning Friday note had said it reckoned wholesale trade will do better than a 'flat' advance estimate, inching up 0.5%.

Meanwhile, to assist parliamentarians in their budgetary deliberations, the Parliamentary Budget Officer on Friday published a report that highlights key issues arising from the Federal government's Budget 2025.

In company news, Canada Nickel (CNC.V) announced the referral of its Crawford Project to the major projects office by the federal government. Northcliff Resources (NCF.TO) and Nouveau Monde Graphite (NOU.TO) also had projects referred.
