Arani is an Assembly constituency in the Tiruvannamalai district, in the North region of Tamil Nadu.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Arani was won by Panruti S Ramachandran of DMK.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by RM Babu Murugavel of DMDK.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Panruti S Ramachandran garnered 94,074 votes, securing over 44.89 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 7,327 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 3.5 percent.

The constituency polled 2,09,811 votes in the 2016 Tamil Nadu assembly polls with a voter turnout of 81.85 percent.

The Arani constituency has a literacy level of 74.72 percent.

A total of 23 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
