DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran confident of forming a government in Tamil Nadu
Apr 15, 2019 9:28 AM

Former Telecom Minister and DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran is looking to script a comeback from his home constituency of Central Chennai.

In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18's Jude Sannith, he said, “The people of Tamil Nadu feel very neglected by the central government and nothing good has happened for the state for last five year and people want a change.”

He said MK Stalin has formed a formidable alliance with Congress, CPI and MDMK.

When asked what he was promising the people this time, he said, “In 2004, we had a similar situation where there was a severe water drought in Tamil Nadu and that time I had promised them a solution like a desalination plant and we did that. It was the first time in the Union Budget that Rs 1000 crore was allotted for a desalination plant for Chennai and it was implemented.”

"This time too we have promised that we will increase the capacity of the existing desalination plant and also install new desalination plant if needed because water crisis is the main thing," said Maran.

"The second promise is employment. When we were there we brought in a lot of industries, which gave a lot of employment and good salaries to people. So once again if we get an opportunity, we will ensure that we will get good industries to come to Chennai and IT industries to give more jobs," he added.

Talking of vote winning margin, he said they are going to stage a repeat of 2004 for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, DMK will win 40 out of 40 seats. DMK will win 24 out of 24 assembly constituencies and there is going to be a change in TN government as well.
