Hemtabad is an Assembly constituency in the Uttar Dinajpur district, in the North Bengal region of West Bengal.The Hemtabad constituency went to polls on April 22, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Hemtabad was won by Debendra Nath Roy of TMC. Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Khageneraldra Nath Sinha of CPIM.In the 2016 assembly polls, Debendra Nath Roy garnered 80419 votes, securing over 40.67 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 13136 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 6.64 percent. The constituency polled 197827 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 85.04 percent. The Hemtabad constituency has a literacy level of 60.13 percent.A total of 8 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
