Former Congress member of parliament (MP) and scion of Kota royal family, Ijyaraj Singh, on Monday said he and his wife joined BJP after the grand old party denied tickets to his workers.

Last week, Singh and his wife Kalpana Raje joined the BJP after she was denied a Congress ticket from the Ladpura assembly constituency in Kota district.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Parikshit Luthra, Singh said the offer to contest from Ladpura assembly constituency came from Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and we accepted the offer.

Singh said BJP has taken number of steps to help the farmers, by waiving farmer loans and by increasing minimum support price (MSP), "I and my wife have been involved with farmer issues since the last 10 years. So, we have full confidence that they will see that we are working for them."
