New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament began on Wednesday. The Opposition will seek to corner the government on the issues of the standoff with China, inflation, and unemployment.
The government plans to introduce 16 bills during 17 sittings in the session. Out of the 16 bills, Congress said it is opposed to three bills -- the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022, and the forest conservation amendment bill, 2022.
The Winter session is also likely to be the last session to be held in the existing Parliament House. The session will continue till December 29, having 17 sittings spread over 23 days.

# Lok Sabha adjourned till 12 pm after the reading of the obituaries, on the first day of the session.
# Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses media ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament. He says, "It's the first day of Winter Session. This is important because we met before on August 15 when we completed 75 years of Independence. We are meeting at a time when India has received the opportunity to preside over the G20."
Modi says that the G20 summit is an opportunity to display India's capability before the world. "Such a large country, mother of democracy, such diversity, such capability - it's an opportunity for world to know India and for India to show its capability to world," he adds.
Modi is also hopeful of all parties contributing in the session. "In this session, efforts will be made to take important decisions while keeping in mind taking the country to new heights of development and new opportunities to take the country forward amid current global situation. I'm confident that all parties will add value to discussions."
