PM Narendra Modi tweets, 'This Sunday, thinking of giving up social media accounts'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday tweeted that he was thinking of giving up his social media accounts -- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

The PM, who has been extremely active on social media platforms, made the announcement on his official Twitter and Instagram accounts.

This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted.

“This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted,” he posted.

The same was posted a few minutes later on his Instagram account.

The PM, who has over 53 million followers on Twitter, reaches out to his supporters and makes announcements of various schemes on social media. He has 44 million and 35.2 million followers on Facebook and Instagram, respectively.

Modi has not held a press conference since taking office in 2014. Although he has not cited any reason for that, he uses his social media accounts actively to make major announcements.
