Tirunelveli is an Assembly constituency in the Tirunelveli district, in the South region of Tamil Nadu. The Tirunelveli constituency went to the polls on April 6, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Tirunelveli was won by ALS Lakshmanan of DMK.
Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Nainar Nagendran, who was then with AIADMK. He later moved to BJP.
In the 2016 assembly polls, ALS Lakshmanan garnered 81,761 votes, securing over 43.13 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 601 votes. In percentage terms, the victory margin was 0.32 percent.
The constituency polled 1,89,620 votes in the 2016 Tamil Nadu assembly polls with a voter turnout of 70.5 percent. The Tirunelveli constituency has a literacy level of 82.92 percent. A total of 18 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
