Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) has cut prices of some products in its soaps portfolio including Lux and Lifebuoy to pass on the benefits of cheaper inputs to customers, aiming to win them even as the demand remains weak.
"We have taken price reductions of around 4-6 percent in Lux and Lifebuoy portfolio... there may be cuts which are higher on certain packs but definitely not to the tune of 25-30 percent across the portfolio," a company spokesperson clarified while speaking to CNBC-TV18 after some reports claimed that for some packs, the price cuts were 20-30 percent.
The price cuts are likely to push volumes, gain market share and improve margins, he added.
