Virgin Hyperloop has proposed to bring down the commute from the centre of Bengaluru to the Kempegowda International Airport down to ten minutes.

Virgin Hyperloop, a leading player in hyperloop technology, and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), operator of the Kempegowda International Airport, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed hyperloop corridor.

The pre-feasibility study will focus on technical, economic and route feasibility, and is expected to be completed in 2 phases of six months each.

"With speeds of up to 1,080 kmph, hyperloop could transport thousands of passengers per hour from BLR Airport to the city center in under 10 minutes, according to the preliminary analysis," BIAL said in a statement.

The Bangalore airport is set to be connected with the suburban railway in a few weeks and has metro connectivity plans in four years.

The airport saw a footfall of 33.65 million passengers in 2019.
