Nomad Raises $2M in Oversubscribed Seed Round to Transform Fleet Management with AI
Apr 1, 2026 7:03 AM

Toronto-based startup marks its one-year anniversary by doubling initial fundraising target, positioning its AI-powered platform as the operating system for the trucking industry.

TORONTO, April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Nomad Inc., an AI-powered fleet management platform, today announced the closing of its $2 million seed funding round, doubling its initial $1 million target due to strong investor demand. The milestone comes exactly one year after the company's launch, capping a first year defined by rapid customer adoption, product momentum, and a clear signal from the market that AI-powered fleet management has arrived.

The oversubscribed round positions Nomad to accelerate product development and market expansion as it builds what it calls the "AI operating system" for the North American trucking industry.

Founded by Loren Shifrin, Nomad is transforming how trucking companies manage their operations by starting with intelligent fuel management and expanding into a full suite of fleet solutions.

"One year ago, we set out to prove that the trucking industry is ready for a fundamentally different approach. The response from customers and investors has exceeded every expectation," said Loren Shifrin, Founder and CEO of Nomad Inc. "We're not just building another point solution. We're building an ecosystem that will power the future of fleet operations. This funding accelerates our ability to deliver on that vision."

The $800 billion North American trucking industry has historically lagged in technology adoption, relying on fragmented legacy systems and manual processes. Nomad's AI-first approach consolidates critical fleet operations into a unified, intelligent platform that learns and optimizes across all aspects of fleet management.

A Milestone Year

In its first twelve months, Nomad has gone from concept to live platform onboarding fleets across the United States and Canada, processing real operations from day one, and building the data foundation for a much larger product roadmap. What began as a vision for AI-native fleet management is now an operational reality.

Fuel Management as the Wedge

Nomad launched with AI-powered fuel management, a strategic entry point that delivers immediate, measurable ROI for fleet operators while building the data infrastructure for broader platform expansion.

"Fuel is the perfect wedge product. It's the second largest expense for trucking companies after labor, and optimization requires exactly the kind of real-time intelligence our platform excels at," added Jeremy Kelly, Cofounder and CGO of Nomad Inc. "But fuel management is just the beginning. We're using the data and relationships we build there to expand into every aspect of fleet operations."

AI That Works

At the core of Nomad's platform is AI-powered intelligence. It continuously monitors all activity and patterns, identifying inefficiencies, fraud, and opportunities for optimization in real time.

"AI shouldn't be abstract. It should drive measurable impact," said Usman Ali, Chief Product Officer at Nomad. "Nomad doesn't just track fuel spend. It interprets it and turns raw data into actionable insights. Fleets get back the mental bandwidth and financial control they didn't know they were missing.

Market Opportunity

The North American trucking industry represents a massive opportunity for technology disruption. With over 3.5 million truck drivers and hundreds of thousands of fleet operators managing complex, multi-variable operations, the need for intelligent, integrated systems has never been greater. Legacy solutions are fragmented, requiring fleet managers to juggle multiple disconnected platforms and manual processes.

Nomad's AI-native approach learns from each fleet's unique operations, continuously optimizing decisions across fuel purchasing, route planning, financing options, and more. All from a single, unified platform.

Use of Funds

The $2 million seed round will be deployed across three key priorities:

Product Development: Expanding the AI engine to cover additional operational domains beyond fuel management, building toward the comprehensive "operating system" visionGo-to-Market Acceleration: Scaling customer acquisition and building strategic partnerships within the trucking ecosystemTeam Growth: Growing the engineering and go-to-market teams to support continued platform expansionNomad is targeting a Series A in Q2-Q3 2026.
